Senior Developer and Project Manager
Madrid,
Spain
At Singular Beacon we are looking for a candidate with integrity, insight and initiative to join our team as a Senior Developer and Project Manager
We are looking for people who are passionate about technology and about execution, with a drive for excellence, who know how to lead projects and teams while still getting into the code when needed, and who have proven professional experience in Odoo development and in managing digital transformation projects in consulting environments.
We would like to build a long-term relationship based on the trust, transparency, empathy and passion we all share for our profession.
Join a team where your dedication and autonomy will be key to achieving shared success. For our part, we will work to ensure these skills are rewarded with interesting professional experiences and generous compensation in line with the value you bring to the organization, reflecting the successes we will share.
The role
What kind of employee are we looking for?

At Singular we look for professionals with integrity, insight and initiative, who are committed to developing their careers and feel comfortable in a competitive, dynamic and results-oriented environment. We value candidates who, in addition to a solid academic background, stand out for their analytical ability, rigor, sense of responsibility in meeting objectives and/or their achievements in areas beyond the professional.
In particular, what catches our attention is:
- Analytical ability and a strong academic record.
- A drive for excellence and high ethical and professional standards.
- Diligence and commitment demonstrated in previous work experience. Specifically, professionals committed to their employers, with long-lasting past collaborations that show this commitment.
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written.
- Professional ambition and the dual ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Intellectual curiosity and a desire to learn and keep developing within the company.
- A sense of social commitment, athletes with competitive experience and/or involvement in musical projects or groups of various kinds.
If these values resonate with you, we want to meet you!
What will you do?
We are looking for someone who wants to see real results in our clients' processes. Your contribution will be tangible from day one, combining leadership, technical judgment and method. These are the key activities you will take on:
- You will lead your projects from start to finish: scope, timeline, team, quality and margin, dealing directly with the client.
- You will coordinate the development team's work: you will distribute the workload, review what is delivered and unblock whatever gets stuck.
- You will be the project's technical reference: you will define the solution, explain it to the team building it and develop it yourself when needed.
- You will deploy complex technical solutions based on Odoo, Python, React and SQL in a mixed Cloud environment (mainly Azure), and you will take part in Advanced Analytics and BI projects.
- You will design and develop Odoo modules and adjacent services (APIs, integrations) to deliver end-to-end digital solutions that meet measurable business objectives.
- You will work on Odoo as the CORE management system (projects, time tracking and cost control) and use BI on that information to turn activity into decision-making indicators.
Responsibilities
Project management
- Planning, execution and monitoring of your projects from start to finish, being accountable for scope, timeline, team and budget.
- Weekly project governance: dailies and weeklies, follow-up minutes for the client and documentation of what has been delivered.
- Risk and dependency management, spotting deviations and triggering the corrective plan before they affect the client.
- Liaison with the client's managers and escalation point for incidents, proposing a solution and not just a diagnosis.
- Gathering and documenting requirements and deliverables together with the technical and functional teams.
Team and capacity
- Assigning people to projects according to priority, skills and workload, and tracking utilization.
- Anticipating capacity bottlenecks, proposing reinforcements, reprioritization or scope adjustments.
- Mentoring mid-level and junior profiles, reviewing PRs and spreading good practices (OCA style, coding and security guidelines).
- Coordinating dependencies between Development, Consulting, Data & Analytics and Digital Marketing so that they do not block deliveries.
- Monitoring time tracking so that billing reflects the actual effort.
Profitability and financial control
- Tracking margin by project: planned versus consumed hours, deviations and the cause of each one.
- Controlling prepaid hour packages and billing milestones, giving warning before they run out or are exceeded.
- Proposals to improve profitability: automating repetitive tasks, reusing components and adjusting the mix of profiles.
- Preparing the project financial information that management needs to make decisions.
Development and integration
- Architecture, development and advanced customization of Odoo modules (v16+): models/ORM, api decorators, ACL/record rules, server actions, QWeb/OWL, JavaScript and XML, with a focus on performance and maintainability.
- Integration of Odoo with other platforms and systems through APIs.
- Development of web solutions with modern frameworks: React, Angular, Flask and/or Vue.js.
- Migrations and upgrades (OpenUpgrade or others), localizations and multi-company/multi-country deployments.
- Version control using Git-based VCS systems.
Data and BI
- Building ETLs in SQL or Python (XML-RPC, REST or similar APIs) on SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL and Parquet.
- Building dashboards in PowerBI and occasionally in Microstrategy or Qlik.
- Use of AI via terminal or API to automate repetitive project tasks: document parsing, code review and extracting insights from datasets.
Quality, method and continuous improvement
- Ensure that projects are carried out in line with the firm's methodology.
- Document and maintain operational processes, making explicit the knowledge that today lives only in people's heads.
- Identify repetitive tasks and automate them, measuring the savings achieved.
- Define and track operational indicators (timeliness, quality, reopened incidents, satisfaction) and act on them.
One month
On your first day we will welcome you at our offices, located at Av. de Ciudad de Barcelona 132, 1st floor.
During the first week we will move ahead with the onboarding process and equip you with all the tools you need.
You will meet with management to set objectives and a three-month work plan, and from the first week you will take on an ongoing client project.
Three Months
You will run your own projects, dealing directly with the client, and coordinate the team assigned to each one.
You will know the real state of your portfolio and answer for it with data: timeline, quality and margin.
We will also expect your first suggestions for improvement, both in client projects and in our internal processes.
Six Months
You will manage your project portfolio with full autonomy and be accountable for its profitability.
You will be the escalation point for the technical team, and you will have a meeting with management to compare notes, in both directions, on how the fit is working out.
And you will have started to leave your mark on how we work: method, documentation and automation of repetitive work.
What do we ask for?
The basics...
- A STEM university degree (bachelor's, licenciatura or master's), preferably in Engineering, Mathematics or Physics.
- More than 5 years of professional experience, with a demonstrable track record as a senior profile.
- Experience working in a consultancy.
- Having run projects from start to finish with responsibility for scope, timeline, team and budget.
- Real development experience on Odoo and Python: the ability to define the solution, review it and write it yourself if needed.
- Coordination of technical teams and of several projects in parallel.
- Project financial tracking: prepaid hour packages, billing milestones and margin.
- Relational databases (PostgreSQL) and agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
You'll blow us away if you also...
- Odoo certifications.
- Formal training or certification in project management (PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum Master).
- Previous experience in a boutique consultancy or in environments with several client accounts running at once.
- Power BI at the modeling level, not just as a consumer.
- Experience with Odoo migrations and upgrades.
- Good level of technical English.
- You have an entrepreneurial mindset: you have started something of your own or led an initiative from scratch.

Pay is governed by our remuneration policy and the contract is subject to the collective agreement for consulting, information technology, and market and opinion research companies. In addition, all our employees benefit from our incentive policy.

for 40h/week or the equivalent for shorter working hours. Final salary to be agreed based on your résumé, previous experience and internal assessment.
Additionally

- Community: we try to organize all kinds of team building and networking activities, from attending events to heading out to the mountains for a hike, by way of LAN parties and the like.
- Complementary Projects: as you will read in the about us section, we collaborate on projects of various kinds, such as social platforms and/or the production of podcasts.
When and where will you work?
- Remote-friendly work, at least 20% of the time and up to 60%, subject to the project, the client and your manager's approval.
- As for where you live, the only requirement is to reside in the Community of Madrid and/or be able to get to the workplace, or to meetings that may come up unexpectedly, within an hour and a half.
- The standard working day is 9:00 to 18:30 Monday to Thursday and 9:00 to 15:00 on Fridays. Everyone arranges their working day within the 8:00 to 20:00 window to complete their 40 weekly hours as they see fit, always trying to meet the needs of the project and the client. We have an ERP (Odoo) where we log our hours to keep detailed track of the effort spent so that we can bill it to our clients.
- You will have 23 days of vacation per year by contract under the collective agreement, to which we add 2 extra days granted by the company if you meet your objectives.

Frequently Asked Questions
No, the person we are looking for must be based in Madrid and available to come to our offices or the client's offices in line with the remote working model on offer.
Immediate start.
We understand that it is impossible to match a role 100%, and we appreciate your honesty. All we ask is that you be realistic. It is normal not to meet the odd requirement, but we expect you to be aware of your own limitations and, if you apply, to have relevant and complementary experience or training.
That said, for this role there are four requirements we do not negotiate: a STEM university degree (preferably Engineering, Mathematics or Physics), more than 5 years of professional experience, experience working in a consultancy, and having run projects from start to finish with responsibility for scope, timeline and team. If you meet all four and are missing some of the rest, apply and tell us which ones you don't meet: we value honesty.
We are a technology consultancy with a strong culture and a workload typical of our sector. We don't like working overtime, but the working days are intense. Whatever your role, you will have responsibility and clear objectives, and both internal managers and clients will be demanding about deadlines, deliverables and reporting.
We have grown from 3 people in 2021 to 15 in 2025. Our goal for 2030 is to reach revenue of €5M/year.
How do I apply?
You will find the apply button at the top and bottom of this page. When you click it, a page will open where you can answer a few questions and submit your CV.

Positive Impact
Kindness, Honesty, Loyalty and Respect
We act in line with our values and our Code of Ethics, treat all parties respectfully and pleasantly, are socially and environmentally aware, and are firmly determined to add value by building relationships that we look after over the long term.
Adding Value
Drive for Excellence and Results Orientation
We offer high-quality solutions and work so that every euro our clients invest turns into value for their firm. We take responsibility for the full project life cycle, operating on the principles of efficiency and effectiveness, beginning with the end in mind and seeking synergies and win-win strategies.
Adaptability
Flexibility, Empathy and Transparency
Our sector and our clients' needs are constantly changing. We are aware of these needs, and considerate and understanding toward them. We are willing to help, and we do so by being flexible about changes to initial requirements, deadlines and costs.

How do we work?
Our working philosophy is agile and project-oriented. Odoo is our CORE system (ERP, CRM, HCM, PPM, CMS and DMS), which we complement with the Microsoft ecosystem for email, office software and communication.
In terms of governance, we plan on a weekly basis and hold dailies and weeklies so that progress is coordinated and we can help each other with any blockers that arise. We send follow-up minutes to clients so they can keep track of the project's progress, and we keep unit cost control for each project. To do so, we log our hours against the different projects we work on.
To make asynchronous work easier with such diverse teams, you will share your experience as explicit knowledge by creating and/or updating documentation and procedures. That way, the rest of the team can consult it, update it and benefit from it.
You will be in continuous training, so if you come across something you lack the qualifications or experience for, you will have the opportunity to train in it.
The standard dress code is business casual, which for men means wearing a shirt, long pants and closed shoes, and for women a formal, understated equivalent, avoiding sportswear or overly casual clothing.
Our code of ethics governs how we behave both within the company and in our dealings with clients, suppliers and the communities where you are present on the company's behalf.
Where do we work?
Our profession demands a close relationship with our clients, so most of our consultants visit them or work some days at the client's own offices. In addition, we try to get together at least three times a week at our offices.
